Jointing
Preparation
Ensure all surfaces are clean, dry and completely free of dust. Well cut joints which fit tightly will ensure an inconspicuous finish. Biscuits will ensure strong level joints and always use connector bolts to ensure strength. Cut bolt slots no deeper than 25mm from the rear surface for 40mm worktops.
Assembly
The full range of BB Complete is available as a standard 290ml (C90) cartridge to fit any standard caulking / sealant gun. The product is also avalible in 6 decors in a 80ml cartridge enough to do 3 joints.
The cartridge includes one screw on nozzel with screw cap closure to enable storage and re-use.
BB Complete has a joint open time of about 10 - 15 minutes allowing more time to make adjustments.
Apply a 5mm diameter bead around the boarder of one cut edge, 5mm in from the bottom and top faces following the profile and completing a loop. An additional center bead is required for 60mm worktops. Insert the connector bolts and tighten to the nip point, ensuring that BB Complete squeezes out around the entire joint.
Check the joint is level, adjusting as necessary using a rubber mallet. Fully tighten the bolts a maximum of two full turns past the nip point. using a soft plastic or laminate scraper, remove excess adhesive avoiding smears. Take care not to scratch the surface particularly with gloss finish worktops.
Mosten a clean, lint-free cloth with white spirit and carefully remove residue, wiping at 90° across the joint to avoid removing adhesive before the joint cures.
Do not wipe down with water or any other solvents and allow 24 hours for the joint to fully cure before using.
Sealing
For all areas where raw chipboard has been exposed, such as sink cut outs and cut ends, spread a bead of BB Complete using a spatula ensuring total coverage.
To seal a worktop to a wall ensure all surfaces are fully dry, dust free and stable.
Apply a generous bead of BB Complete along the back edge of the worksurface ensuring there are no gaps.
Smooth the bead using a spatula or use a rubber glove finger dipped in white spirit.
Alow to cure for 24 hours before use.
Bonding
Upstands
Ensure that all surfaces are fully dry, dust free and stable before bobding.
Apply three beads along the length of the upstand and a generous seating bead along the bottom raw chipboard sufficient to ensure the upstand is totally seald against moisture ingress.
Clean away any excess with a clean whipe moistened with white spirit.
Do not use water or other solvents. See "finishing" instructions to add a final waterproof seal between the upstand and worktop.
Allow to cure for 24 hours.
Splashbacks
Ensure that all surfaces are fully dry, dust free and stable before bonding.
Dot and dab BB Connecct to the back of splashbacks and apply a generous seating bead along the bottom raw MDF, sufficient to ensure the splashback is totally seald against moisture ingress.
Clean away any excess with a clean wipe moistened with white spirit.
Do not use water or other solvents. See "finishing" instructions to add a final waterproof seal between the splashback and worktop.
Allow to cure for 24 hours before use
Finishing
The standard nozzzel is designed to produce a fine bead. Consider masking the area to be finished with a good quality masking tape to produce a neat straight edge.
Hold the nozzel at a 45° angle and apply an even bead along the area to be finished.
Shaping of the bead is possible using a specialist smoothing tool, soft scraper, spatula or simply using a rubber gloved finger dipped in white spirit. Do not use water or other solvents.
Once satisfied with the final finish any masking tape should be peeled away immediately.
Clean away any spillage with a clean wipe moistened with white spirit. Do not use water or other solvents.
Allow to cure for 24 hours before use. |
